Functional range conditioning + Kinstretch

Functional Range Conditioning

Functional Range Conditioning is a trademarked system of human movement optimization that incorporates mobility development, articular strength and neurological control. With FRC we are trying to expand our articular ranges of motion, while also teaching the central nervous system how to control these ranges of motion. Developed by world-renowned musculoskeletal expert Dr. Andreo Spina, Functional Range Conditioning is a comprehensive joint training system based on scientific principles and research.

There are three main goals when training using FRC system and all are closely interrelated and acquired simultaneously: Mobility Development, Joint Strength and Body Control. Mobility Development refers to the amount of active, usable motion that one possesses. The more mobile a person is, the more they are able to maximize their movement potential safely, efficiently and effectively. Building and maintaining Joint Strength now can help you stay active and ward off problems down the road. The goal is to give you, the client, an applicable daily tool to improve and maintain joint range of motion (ROM) for each joint in a controlled and mindful manner. It also includes isolating the joint and not borrowing any movement or ROM from the surrounding joints. The degree of tension or irradiation varies approximately between 20% to your safest greatest percent. Training with FRC improves the function of your nervous system. This leads to a reduction of pain and injury, joint health and longevity, as well as an increased ability to move freely and easily.

Kinstretch

Kinstretch is a class born out of the FRC model. It is not a stretching class; it’s a very challenging workout in which muscle cramping is expected. It is a strong supplemental exercise to expand your usable range of motion which we inevitably lose with age or via a sedentary lifestyle. Joint health is imperative for success in all our activities: running, CrossFit, yoga or shuffleboard. If you are currently dealing with an injury, this class is not for you. Mobility work is not rehabilitation, it’s expansion.

Some think outside the box only because they lack understanding of what’s in it. Others use what’s in it to make the box bigger.
